SUMMARY:Free Emergency Preparedness Presentations
DESCRIPTION:Free Emergency Preparedness presentations offered to public In response to Monday’s bombing at the Boston Marathon\, the City of Scottsdale Emergency Preparedness/Homeland Security Bureau is offering two free one-hour presentations to the public. “Monday’s bombing at the Boston Marathon highlights the importance of families and individuals having plans to care for themselves in case of an emergency\,” said John Moede\, City of Scottsdale Emergency Management Coordinator. “One part of being prepared is designating a loved one or family friend in another part of the state as the communication hub\, collecting and sharing information\,” Moede said\, “because cell phones often do not work in an emergency.” Additional topics to be discussed include creating a disaster supply kit\, a family disaster plan and a list of resources to help family members protect themselves. Presentations are scheduled for:1-2 pm\, Sunday\, April 21 at the Weitzman Public Safety Building\; 8401 E. Indian School Rd.9-10 am\, Saturday\, April 27 at the Weitzman Public Safety Building\; 8401 E. Indian School Rd. To register\, visit www.scottsdaleaz.gov/emergencies.
