Schlotzsky’s was founded in 1971 in Austin\, TX in with just one sandwich – the famous The Original®. Over the last 41 years\, the brand has evolved to include sandwiches\, wraps\, pizzas\, soups\, desserts and more\, not to mention completing a systemwide reimage with a new “Lotz Better” look. Gene Denison and his wife Sancie joined the Schlotzskys’ family in April 2012. Since that time\, they have taken over five restaurants in Arizona\, including this location in Scottsdale. They have brought a jolt of energy and enthusiasm to the Schlotzsky’s brand and have worked to refresh and reimage their restaurants.

The Denison's currently employ more than 80 team members in their stores\, and have already added almost 20 positions in Scottsdale alone. \; Scottsdale is home to the first store to be reimaged\, and is considered to be the Denison's new 'Flagship" store with new decor and offering Cinnabon's World famous Cinnamon Rolls and Carvel Ice Cream in addition to their mouth-watering Schlotzsky's products.

The Denison's operate four other restaurants\, with two in Phoenix at 44th &\; Thomas and I17 &\; Dunlap\, one in Mesa at I60 East at Country Club and one in Tempe at Southern &\; Priest. Gene and Sancie plan on developing an additional 30 Schlotzsky's throughout Arizona over the next several years\, providing over 1\,000 jobs. \; \;

They are committed to their business\, and also to the community. Through the Schlotzsky’s national cause\, JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)\, the Denison’s committed to raising funds for the group in their restaurants and also participated in a local JDRF Walk in Phoenix. Gene &\; Sancie have made a strong\, positive impact on the Scottsdale community and we are happy to celebrate this day with the Denison’s and with Schlotzsky’s.
