SUMMARY:Visioning Scottsdale Town Hall Application Deadline
DESCRIPTION:Dear Scottsdale Community Member: Are you a visionary? Do you want to help shape the future of Scottsdale? Here’s how you can help. The City of Scottsdale has hired the non-profit Arizona Town Hall organization to gather input and ideas from the Scottsdale community. Their charge is to make sure that the future of Scottsdale continues to be guided by people who share a love\, passion and commitment to this community. People like you! A "Visioning Scottsdale Town Hall" will meet for three\, half-day sessions on February 6\, 7 and 11\, 2013\, between 7:30 am and 1 pm\, to talk about: 1. What do we value and love about Scottsdale? 2. What is next for Scottsdale? 3. What do we want Scottsdale to look like in the next 10-20 years? The way the process works is that approximately 100 community members will be chosen to attend and participate in an active discussion. It is critical that these 100 participants include a broad-range of backgrounds\, expertise and geographic representation of our city. To ensure a balanced and broad representation of participants\, we are asking those interested to submit an application and return it to Arizona Town Hall\, or via the website at www.scottsdalegp.com\, by January 11\, 2013. If you do decide to apply\, be sure to block out your calendar for the entire period of the three sessions. Active participation by each participant throughout the entire process is essential. Here is a glance at what the sessions will include. The February 6th opening session will include a breakfast orientation followed by facilitated discussions. Participants will return the following morning for further discussions. During the final session on Monday morning February 11th\, participants will finalize a draft vision statement and community values for Scottsdale. A final version will be available for review and comment by the entire community in late February. It is my sincere hope that you will apply in order to be considered as a participant in this process. When chosen to attend\, the City of Scottsdale will provide you with background information for your review in advance of the Visioning Scottsdale Town Hall. You can expect to hear directly from the Arizona Town Hall organization about the outcome of your application. This Town Hall will be the first step in updating the City of Scottsdale General Plan\, a document that guides the growth and character of our city for 10-20 years. We update our General Plan only once every ten years. It’s Your Plan. It’s Your Future. It’s Your Time to Act! Questions/information? Contact Long Range Planning Services\, City of Scottsdale at 480.312.3111 or generalplan@scottsdaleaz.gov or Tara Jackson\, President\, Arizona Town Hall at 602.252.9600 or tarajackson@aztownhall.org. Sincerely\, W.J. "Jim" Lane Mayor of Scottsdale
