Dr. Pam Martin, Founder and Executive Director of Homeward Bound.
Founded in 1990, Homeward Bound has been assisting homeless and domestic violence families with children as they transition from homelessness to economic independence. Beginning with one family and one home, Homeward Bound now owns and operates 156 housing units, which today serves over 539 individuals, 312 of which are children.
Homeward Bound is recognized as the largest provider of transitional housing in Arizona whose mission is to assist families achieve economic independence, secure long-term, safe, decent, affordable housing and break multi-generational cycles of homelessness and domestic violence.
As executive director of Homeward Bound, Dr. Pam Martin knows first hand the experiences of families struggling to provide for their children. Dr. Martin has spent twenty-seven years as a dedicated nonprofit executive focused on family issues, primarily women and children. Her passion and commitment has truly made a difference in the lives of many women, children and families.
Homeward Bound assists families with a “hand up, not a handout.” Each family participating in the program contributes 30 percent of their adjusted gross income for housing, utilities, and support services. In addition to transitional housing, Homeward Bound provides a 12- to 24-month comprehensive social services program including case management, mental health services, employment services, life skills programs, and affordable and accessible childcare.
Homeward Bound is also the beneficiary of the Annual Baby Diaper Drive which kicks off November 15 and runs though January 15, 2007. Founded by Eileen Rogers, President of Allegra Print and Imaging, the 8th Annual Baby Drive has a goal of collecting 100,000 diapers and $75,000 for emergency funds! We encourage you to bring a donation of diapers or baby wipes to be collected at our luncheon!
