Founded in Taiwan in 1972 by Bing-Yi Yang, Din Tai Fung is a global culinary icon famous for its Xiao Long Bao. Originally a cooking oil shop, the business pivoted when Mr. Yang’s handmade dumplings gained immense popularity and pivoted to the full-fledged restaurant it is today. Now, the brand operates over 160 locations across 13 countries.
Din Tai Fung’s Xiao Long Bao are made from scratch, carefully weighed to exactly 21 grams each, and folded by hand to achieve the signature “Golden Ratio” of 18 folds. The menu also includes steamed buns, house-made noodles and vegan dishes. A Michelin-starred brand, it was named a ''Top Ten Gourmet Restaurant'' by the New York Times. Today, Din Tai Fung continues to be family-owned and passed down through generations, staying true to its heritage and timeless values.
