HonorHealth Scottsdale Thompson Peak Medical Center marks 20 years
and looks ahead to its next chapter

Scottsdale, Ariz. (October 8, 2025)HonorHealth, a leading Valley-based nonprofit healthcare system serving more than five million people in the greater Phoenix area, today celebrated 20 years of service at Scottsdale Thompson Peak Medical Center, recognizing two decades of serving North Scottsdale residents and sharing plans for the hospital’s next chapter.

In 2005, the Scottsdale City Council unanimously approved the vision and zoning for Thompson Peak — a full-service hospital designed to meet the needs of a growing North Scottsdale community. Today, Thompson Peak stands as a trusted center of care, consistently recognized for safety, quality and exceptional patient experience, including Medicare 5-star quality ratings, Leapfrog “A” safety grades, U.S. News & World Report High Performing Hospital designation, and Magnet® recognition for nursing excellence.

“Twenty years ago, our community leaders and neighbors placed their trust in us to create a hospital that would serve North Scottsdale for generations,” said Jose Romo, vice president and hospital administrator, HonorHealth Scottsdale Thompson Peak Medical Center. “As we honor that commitment today, we are preparing for the future by responsibly building on our original agreement with the City to ensure our high-quality care and breadth of services remain accessible for decades to come.”

The next phase for Thompson Peak will be a patient care building with an additional 56 beds, operating rooms and medical office space. To be completed in the next few years under its existing city-approved zoning and development plan, this additional space will allow the hospital to adapt to the healthcare needs of the community while remaining aligned with the commitments made two decades ago.

“As Scottsdale’s hometown healthcare provider for more than 60 years, HonorHealth has always planned ahead to meet community needs,” said Todd LaPorte, CEO, HonorHealth. “This next chapter at Thompson Peak reflects both our responsibility to the city and our promise to provide exceptional care to the patients and families who count on us.”

The 20-year celebration welcomed Scottsdale elected officials, HonorHealth leaders, staff, physicians, volunteers and community partners who have supported Thompson Peak from its earliest days.
