Fall Wildlife Activity Increases Across Arizona as Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center Reminds Public of 24/7 Emergency Rescue Hotline
 
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — As fall approaches and wildlife activity increases across the Valley of the Sun, Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center (SWCC) is reminding Arizona residents that help is available around the clock for injured, orphaned or displaced native wild mammals.
 
As neighborhoods expand and development increasingly intersects with natural habitat, wildlife faces growing threats from habitat loss, roadways and urban activity. SWCC operates Arizona’s only wildlife emergency hotline available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The hotline is staffed entirely by trained volunteers who provide guidance, education and, when necessary, coordinate emergency rescues throughout the state.
 
When a rescue is required, SWCC volunteers work to ensure animals are handled safely and transported to the organization’s on-site veterinary hospital for specialized treatment. Southwest Wildlife also works closely with Arizona Game and Fish and other wildlife organizations to give rescued animals the best possible chance for rehabilitation and eventual release back into the wild.

ABOUT SOUTHWEST WILDLIFE CONSERVATION CENTER
 
Established in 1994, Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center rescues Arizona native wild mammals that have been injured, orphaned, abandoned or displaced by development. Whenever possible, animals are rehabilitated and released healthy and wild back into their natural habitats. Animals unable to survive in the wild receive lifelong care at SWCC’s accredited sanctuary.
 
In addition to rescue, rehabilitation and sanctuary services, Southwest Wildlife advances conservation through education and research while helping the public understand how to peacefully coexist with Arizona’s native wildlife. SWCC also contributes to the recovery of the endangered Mexican gray wolf as a holding facility and participant in the Mexican Wolf Species SAFE Program.
