From mutual roots to a modern leader: Nationwide rises to No. 69 on Fortune 500 list
The insurance and financial services giant continues to climb in its centennial year
Nationwide rose three spots to No. 69 on this year’s Fortune 500 list, reflecting strong 2025 results and continued momentum across the company.
“An advantage of our modern mutual structure is being able to plan long-term, and our progressive rise up the Fortune 500 reflects an intentional, aggressive plan to grow our businesses,” said Nationwide CEO Kirt Walker. “Our diverse portfolio, strong capital position and iconic brand allow us to grow with intention, navigate volatility and remain strong and stable for those who rely on us.”
In the last four years, the insurance and financial services giant has moved up 14 places on the list.
Nationwide is the:
- Largest private company headquartered in Ohio
- Third largest mutual insurer in the U.S.
- Sixth largest insurer overall
- Sixth largest company in Ohio
- Second largest Central Ohio-based company
The recognition points to the breadth of Nationwide’s insurance and financial services businesses and its place among the nation’s largest corporations.
Fortune ranks U.S.-based companies on their annual revenues for their respective fiscal years. Revenues for insurance companies include premium and annuity income, investment income and capital gains or losses.
