Desert Foothills Land Trust Celebrates 35 Years of Conservation Success with Fundraising Dinner
CAREFREE, AZ — Desert Foothills Land Trust (DFLT) will mark its 35th anniversary with a special fundraising dinner on Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion in Carefree, Arizona.
The milestone celebration honors more than three decades of conservation achievement, including the protection of over 1,100 acres of Sonoran Desert .
"For 35 years, DFLT has been at the forefront of preserving the natural beauty and ecological treasures of our desert," said Patrick McWhortor, Interim President of Desert Foothills Land Trust. "This anniversary isn't just about looking back at what we've accomplished — it's about celebrating with our community and looking forward to the conservation work still ahead."
Guests can look forward to an unforgettable evening of fine dining, entertainment, and community. The celebration will feature a gourmet seated dinner prepared by renowned Chef Tony Rea's Creation in Cuisine, known for exceptional culinary experiences that highlight local flavors. Throughout the evening, the Gedalife Trio will provide live musical entertainment. A silent auction will offer attendees the opportunity to bid on unique works from talented local artists, along with other exclusive items.
Between courses, guests will hear inspiring stories about DFLT's conservation impact across three decades—from the first protected parcels to recent acquisitions that have preserved critical wildlife corridors and pristine desert landscapes. These firsthand accounts will showcase how community support has translated into tangible environmental protection throughout the Sonoran Desert foothills.
McWhortor emphasized that the organization's success over 35 years has been driven by the commitment of conservation-minded community members. "Your presence and support make our work possible," he said. "Together, we're preserving these lands for generations to come, and we're just getting started."
Individual tickets are $250 each, with sponsorship opportunities available. Reservations are requested by April 7, 2026, and can be made online at dflt.org/35th.
