Kelly and Todd LaPorte Named 2027 Honorees for The Honor Ball
The event’s golden anniversary celebration will recognize their leadership and philanthropy to the patients, families and communities HonorHealth serves
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Sept. 23, 2026) - HonorHealth Foundation announced today that Kelly and Todd LaPorte will be honored at The Honor Ball in 2027, the event’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. The milestone evening will take place Saturday, February 20, 2027, from 6 to 11:30 p.m. at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa.
With the theme “A Golden Legacy, A Royal Celebration,” the event will recognize five decades of philanthropy and mission purpose while celebrating the philanthropists, community leaders and volunteers who have helped make The Honor Ball one of Arizona’s most enduring charitable traditions.
Todd LaPorte’s 25-year career with HonorHealth, including his leadership as Chief Executive Officer, has helped guide the organization through significant growth and transformation while advancing healthcare access and innovation. Kelly’s commitment to philanthropy and community service reflects the compassion and generosity at the heart of The Honor Ball. Together, they embody the leadership and service the event was created to honor.

Celebrating A Golden Legacy
For five decades, The Honor Ball has brought together philanthropists, community leaders and healthcare advocates in support of exceptional patient care, innovative programs and lifesaving services across HonorHealth.
The tradition began in 1976 when visionary philanthropist Virginia Piper, inspired by a successful hospital gala in Illinois, imagined a similar event for Scottsdale Memorial Hospital. Partnering with community leaders Ruth Kaspar and Joan Potter, Piper helped launch the inaugural Honor Ball, serving as honorary chair, underwriting the event and naming it in memory of her late husband, Ken Piper.
Held January 15, 1977, at the Camelback Inn, the first Honor Ball welcomed 475 guests and raised an unprecedented $90,000 to help complete the East Tower at the Osborn hospital. Since then, the event has generated more than $33 million to advance healthcare across the Valley, standing as a lasting tribute to Piper's vision, generosity and enduring impact. The Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust has continued Virginia’s legacy of support of the event.
As The Honor Ball celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2027, the milestone event will honor the legacy of past chairs and honorees while inspiring a new generation of philanthropic leaders to help shape the future of healthcare in Arizona.
